SABAH NAIM (Ägypten)

Mohamed Abla - Sabah Naim created an idiosyncratic world, regardless of the fact that she is largely obsessed with the street and its landmarks. Like the artist, everyone of us has walked in the street and took photographs of impressions at different times. The artist`s images are, however, calculated to be her unique world: parts of the elements are dispensed with; other elements are given prominence.

She also stresses an intimate dialogue among human figures on the surface. It seems that the Sabah Naim attempts to lead us to thoughts overwhelming the minds of those people. Naim`s human figures are marked by lines and colours. It is clear that the artist develops an intimate relationship with her figures. Although they are simple people, they are depicted heroes who shoulder big tasks. Further, a great mystique attached to them.

Naim’s colour and style are unsophisticated.

The artist`s paper relief is an elegant combination of photographs and press cuttings about political and economic stories. The artist convinces us of the fact that these political and economic events are part of the ordinary citizen’s life.
