Elena Habicher

"In my works the subject matter is often a woman character, her life and surrounding. Her, dealing with social and personal issues, something in between love and hate, violence and good intentions, relationships between people, men and women, friends and within the family, I prefer not to take it too serious and to bring these ideas to its point. I try to leave things naturally unsaid, not reviled, as if to softer the truth about it and not wanting to confront. In other words, I like to play with the idea of the 'human tragedy' in parallel with the idea of 'c‘est la vie'. I like translating it into my art rather than reflecting it.

I consider it`s important for me to work with diverse media and different materials, both new and well known in art history materials. It allows me to create a set of new possible forms with ◊other“ or traditional“ limits. If I paint with oil, I intentionally choose Mylar plastic as an ◊alien“ material, as something taken out of elsewhere, something that does`t fit in the art context but has all the rights on existence; If I use a canvas, I like to treat it as an object, I`m interested in its indistinct structure, its purity as a foundation for creating something new that has nothing to do with a painting; if I work with feminine attributes, I use it to emphasize the sex and undefined parts of its identity."
