TOSHIYA KOBAYASHI (Japan)

The works by Japanese artist Toshiya Kobayashi reflect a special approach to nature. Be it canvas or wood, his respect to nature is immanent in all forms of expressions. His works are witnesses of awestruck reluctance which leaves the observer space for his/her own associations in a mysterious atmosphere.

In his most recent project Toshiya Kobayashi designed the interior of the Tenshi Hospital, a womens hospital in Hokkaido. In collaboration with the architects Kobayashi developed a soft and delicate yet joyful design that can be found on doors, walls, in smaller art pieces and even postcards. With this colorful language Kobayashi avoids the sterility and tristesse that is common in most hospitals.

With the terrible happenings in Japan in mind, Toshiya Kobayashi has created a 22-pieces series for the Red Cross Japan.
